About Me

Xavier Martin is a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and University of South Carolina alumnus. As a reporter and photojournalist, he uses his craft to bring meaningful change to the community.​

Xavier most recently served as a general assignment Reporter at the Lenoir News-Topic, combining written reporting and photography to cover breaking news, local government, public safety, education, elections, and community feature stories.

While working as a photojournalist for Lee Enterprises, he documented Hurricane Helene’s impact across Western North Carolina, using multimedia visual storytelling to cover the communities and businesses affected. Working with Lee Enterprises, Xavier combined photo and video to report on business, cultural events, sports, and human-interest throughout multiple counties. In October 2023, Xavier attended the prestigious Eddie Adams Workshop.
